Uggie is one of Hollywood’s hottest stars at the moment, known for staring in the recent film The Artist, which is tipped to stack up the awards at this year’s Oscars. Unfortunately this will be Uggie’s last performance, the 10 year old Jack Russel is suffering from a debilitating illness that has cut short his career.

Uggie’s trainer Omar Von Muller announced the dogs retirement after the Oscars later this month, where he will give his last performance along side Billy Crystal presenting this year’s ceremony! It is sad news for Uggie’s fans and his close loved ones but Uggie has developed a mystery illness which sees him left shaking. They have spent thousands on vet bills trying to find the cause but to no avail. The vets have put it down to a neurological disorder of some kind but reassuringly the vets state that he is no way suffering any kind of pain.

Uggie has become one of the biggest stars of the year, having his own Twitter page and even appearing on TV shows such as The Graham Norton Show! ‘It is a shame this has happened when he is getting the biggest success of his career but we feel the best thing to do is to retire him after the Oscars,’ said Mr Von Muller.
